Behind the Scenes at Anne Barge’s Atlanta Atelier
Behind the Scenes at Anne Barge’s Atlanta Atelier
When visiting the Anne Barge Atlanta Atelier, you’ll experience a unique bridal appointment unmatched by traditional bridal retail locations. Join us for a look behind the scenes to see how Shawne Jacobs, Creative Director, has seamlessly integrated the Anne Barge design studio with a stylish retail space that offers brides an intimate shopping experience.
The Location
Anne Barge has served Atlanta brides since 1999, when Anne Barge Clegg opened her doors at the Four Seasons Hotel in Buckhead. When current owner Shawne Jacobs assumed her role as Creative Director in 2014, she wanted to create a luxurious, one-of-a-kind experience for brides who visit the atelier. Rather than choosing a traditional retail space, she searched for a distinct location that could house both a design studio and atelier, allowing brides to get a glimpse of the creative process during their private bridal appointment.
“Brides love that they can come into the showroom for their own private appointment, with no other brides or families around. It’s an intimate atmosphere for them to try on wedding dresses and find the perfect one.”

During your visit at the atelier, you’ll see sales associates along with pattern makers, seamstresses, the quality control team, and all those involved in the creation, production and completion of Anne Barge gowns.
Shawne’s Day-to-Day
Shawne is closely involved in the day-to-day operations at the Anne Barge atelier and design studio. Each morning, she makes her way around the atelier to speak with everyone about their current projects and to connect with them on a personal level.
Each day is different, but the office is often abuzz with excitement and creativity as the team crafts the latest collection. On any given day, Shawne may be running fittings for the Little White Dress line or selecting new, handmade beading and embroidery swatches from India. You’ll usually find her catching up on work with her dogs, Fitz and Abi, by her side — they always lighten up everyone’s day.
The Anne Barge Team
The Anne Barge atelier team is a close-knit group that works together to bring timeless gowns to life and provide a memorable experience for brides who visit in search of their dream dress.
The culture at Anne Barge extends beyond collaborating on work, including sharing in each other’s lives and celebrating personal successes together. The team often bonds over staff-wide spa days and group dinners, where they get to know each other’s families and build upon a foundation of trust.
These strong relationships allow everyone at Anne Barge to feel valuable in sharing their feedback on designs and contributing to the collection. During collaborative meetings, the team discusses which designs are drawing the most attention, and shares ideas and inspiration for future looks. Shawne highly values her sales team’s opinions as they interact with different brides each day. “My Executive Director of Sales may recommend a different strap than I originally designed because she hears feedback from brides at trunk shows, or while working in stores,” explains Shawne.
